Transition to ICAO NOTAM format: New Content Available
NAV CANADA is transitioning to the ICAO NOTAM format and new NOTAM series on October 10th, 2019.
To help facilitate this change, we have published new guidance material on the NAV CANADA website.
The following documents will provide more detail on how the ICAO NOTAM format will be implemented at NAV CANADA and, what is expected by stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.
- The Canadian NOTAM Operating Procedures (CNOP) contains information, guidance and standard operating procedures to be used by NAV CANADA personnel, external accountable sources and, originators of NOTAMs.
- The Transition to ICAO NOTAM – External Transition Plan provides a high-level summary of the planned transition activities and timelines prior to, during, and immediately after the transition date.
- The Briefing for NOTAM Originators provides guidance on how to accurately determine the affected area for a NOTAM.
Further to this, we’d like to announce that starting in September 2019, you will be able to access NOTAM from CFPS (Collaborative Flight Planning Services). Watch for notices on AWWS (Aviation Weather Web Site) and CFPS for further information around this topic.

Pilots, Planes & Prep 2019
This years event was a touch smaller, but still educational, none-the-less.
Take a look at our recap. Thank you to all who joined us for another week!
Pilots, Planes & Prep 2018
What a whirlwind of a week. Thank you to all our presenters, sponsors, and attendees. This event was a huge success! We'd like to share an email we received:
Hello, Allan and Cheryl:
All in all, a most valuable and educational time.
And excellent organization by Kaci all around, keeping us organized and on time.
Just a quick note of thanks and appreciation for the excellent sessions as part of the pilot prep week. Kevin Pierce provided a lot of important info and links to Thrush, Doug gave a superb workshop on risk management (one I think should be mandatory for all ag pilots), and Lubos provided a lot of critical info on the H80. Ed Gaffray was great to have there as well. And the hangar session as a follow up to the formal presentation at the hotel was greatly appreciated, and most instructive.
Many thanks indeed!
Welcoming (and helping) the new to the AG Air industry
And it was a success! Our Welcome to the Industry course held at CAAA 2019 went very well.
Thanks to Aaron Trudell and Tanner Denesowych for being the panelist of our panel discussion this year. It was such a success, the discussion ended up going 1 hour over the scheduled time!
Thank you to our past presenters:
2018- Doug Ingham and Kevin Mooney
2017 - Michael Rutledge
2016 - Kevin Pahl
2015 - Clayton Rempel
